Prayer to the Gods of Pilates
60
Okay, that’s it—the diet starts now! I have a book signing event in only two weeks and everything I own makes me look fat—which leads me to the conclusion that all of the hours that I’ve recently spent planted in front of my computer have added excessive “padding” to my figure. (deep sigh)
So, as of this moment I am on a diet… of sorts. Okay, so I’m not going to swear off of any particular food (since the moment I add a food to the “forbidden” list I’m bound to start craving it), but I will make the following vows:
- I will make conscientious decisions about the foods I eat.
- I will be aware of my portion sizes.
- I will make a very big effort to avoid eating leftover Easter candy (or at least limit myself to only 1… well, 2 a day).
- I will start working out again. I will even go so far as to promise to work out at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes at a time.
- I will force myself to do pilates… no matter how sore I am during the consecutive 2 or 3 days. (pitiful groan)
- I will choose to climb the stairs rather than riding the elevator.
- I will choose to walk (rather than drive) more often.
- I will encourage my friends on Hub Pages to nag me about these vows—so I have no choice but to honor them.
May the Gods of Pilates be with you. Amen!

Have a blessed day,

Oh my gosh-the title of your hub cracked me up. Why? B/c just this morning I walked past my bookshelf where my Pilates book has been gathering dust and thought, "do people even do Pilates anymore? What is the 'new' exercise that took its place?" Honostly I did. And now, here is your adorable hub with a great list of tips.
Rated up and funny. BTW--it is ZUMBA-I believe that Zumba nudged Pilates out. :)
Ok, you're reading my mind. I just took inventory of myself in the mirror this morning and....yikes! Who IS that woman? Over the winter and through the spring, I've been a little negligent about what goes in...and tends to take up residency on myself! Darn! And I thought I was over this....all the time I've been here n SE Kansas..and that's 4 1/2 years; this problem has been an absent one because of so much work to do. But, the very harsh winter we had and, now, the emotional roller coaster of an impending move back to Ca. has left me w/my devices in full swing. Which has made me a bit fuller, too. I'm going to use that list you've so kindly placed before us. Ohhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Up and Useful, of course! And funny only, the jokes on us!!
Love the prayer. I was a Pro Fitness Trainer in Austin, TX. Let me know if I can help in any way. And I just want to make a comment on your poll below. Each exercise has a different effect on the body and a good mix of each on of these 3 times a week will yield tremendous results.

Not a nag, just a gentle reminder. That candy there? You love it but the favor is not returned. Get some fresh veggies, carrots, dark green lettuces, summer squashes...have them ready when you need a snack. Your body will be healthier and gradually you will lose the sugar cravings. If junk food is not in the house, you cannot eat it. This works for me.
I am so proud of you for the book. Congratulations.
